Standard Sign — 1 cable

Most signs ship with a single cable exiting the sign.

Wiring diagram for a standard neon sign with one cable connecting to dimmer, then power supply, then wall outlet
  1. 1 Connect the sign cable to the dimmer using the push-fit connector.
  2. 2 Connect the dimmer to the power supply using the push-fit connector.
  3. 3 Plug the power cord into a wall outlet.
  4. 4 Insert 2 x AA batteries (not included) into the remote control.

Large Sign — 2 or more cables

Larger signs may have two or more cables exiting the sign. Connect each cable to the dimmer individually before continuing.

Wiring diagram for a large neon sign with two cables connecting to the dimmer

Multi-Panel Sign — panels linked, 1 cable to dimmer

Some signs are made of two or more separate panels. Start by linking the panels together before connecting to the dimmer.

Wiring diagram for a two-panel neon sign: panels connected together then one cable to dimmer, power supply, and outlet
  1. 1 Connect the panels together using the short interconnecting cable and push-fit connectors.
  2. 2 Connect the cable from the sign to the dimmer using the push-fit connector.
  3. 3 Connect the dimmer to the power supply using the push-fit connector.
  4. 4 Plug the power cord into a wall outlet.
  5. 5 Insert 2 x AA batteries (not included) into the remote control.
  6. 6 Use the remote control to turn the sign on.

Figure 4

Multi-Panel Sign — panels linked, 2 or more cables to dimmer

Larger multi-panel signs may have two or more cables running from the sign to the dimmer. These signs also use a larger power supply unit. Connect all cables before plugging in.

Wiring diagram for a large two-panel neon sign with two cables to the dimmer and a larger power supply unit
  1. 1 Connect the panels together using the short interconnecting cable and push-fit connectors.
  2. 2 Connect all sign cables to the dimmer using the push-fit connectors, one at a time.
  3. 3 Connect the dimmer to the power supply using the push-fit connector.
  4. 4 Plug the power cord into a wall outlet.
  5. 5 Insert 2 x AA batteries (not included) into the remote control.
